You’d be hard pressed to find a poker fan who could pick him out of a crowd, however. And that’s just fine with him.
The low-profile McKeehen has kept his play slow and steady as the field narrowed, made good decisions in the right spots and the result at hand is the chip lead heading into the final table of the game’s marquee event.
Don’t expect him to be intimidated by the task at hand, though. While the stakes have never been as high he does have plenty of experience closing out poker tournaments with 12 wins among his 77 career live cashes.
He also, interestingly, is a former Risk world champ as he won the 2010 Annual Risk Classic tournament for the global domination board game.
Known as dude904 online and on Twitter, McKeehen’s general calm belies the fact he’s just 24 years old. As he told us last night during a break:
“It’s pretty fun. I’m just trying to enjoy the ride and play my best. That’s pretty much all there is to it. I’m trying to not let the moment overtake me.”
With a combined $3m in live and online earnings already he can clearly afford to take it as it comes.
