Indian poker pro Aditya Agarwal has just made the final 100 of the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas and if he makes the November Nine it could be the match that lights the fuse.
“If an Indian player like me was to make the November Nine it would be huge for poker in India,” Agarwal told PokerListings.
“It would be a huge boom.”
It appears the world's largest online poker room also believes there's a growing poker market in India.
At the beginning of 2015 Agarwal joined Team PokerStars Pro. He's the first and only Indian player on the team.

Agarwal cracked the top 100 in the Main Event in 2008 and he's cashed in it on two other occasions.
No one from India has ever made the November Nine but judging from the support Agarwal is getting from people in India, it would be something special if he became the first.
“The support has been overwhelming, all the people from India. There have been so many people wishing my luck on Facebook and Twitter.
“It's just been awesome having so many people supporting me in poker.”
Agarwal is still a long way from making the final table but if he can pull it off he thinks it will have a big effect in India.
“There would definitely be growth in the game of poker in India [if I made the November Nine].
“A lot more people would be interested in poker and it would get some mainstream coverage. I can see a big poker boom happening in India because of it.”
