Hastings has been remarkably consistent in this tournament and for the third straight day finished as one of the top 10 chip leaders.

He ended with 2.4 million chips, which puts him in fourth place overall.

Two-time WSOPC winner Joe McKeehen took the over-night chip lead with 3.1 million.

Meanwhile Negreanu is in the to 40 with 1.3 million. He had a day to remember that included busting his good friend Phil Hellmuth.

Day 4 began with 661 but by the time the final level of the day concluded there were only 237 still chasing poker’s ultimate prize.

Day 4 began with 94-year-old WWII vet William Wachter providing the traditional shuffle up and deal. He went on to cash for $19,500. He is the oldest player to cash.

He had some company on the rail as Ryan Riess, Joe Hachem, Andre Akkari, Doc Sands, George Danzer and JC Tran were among the many notables who busted.

Phil Hellmuth lost a massive coin flip against Negreanu to bust from the tournament.

There are, however, plenty of good stories remaining with pros Toby Lewis (1.4 million), Matt Jarvis (1.4 million), Justin Bonomo (1.3 million), Jake Cody (764,000), Christian Harder (648,000) and Antonio Esfandiari (190,000).

Action resumes at noon tomorrow as the tournament gets down to the nitty gritty.
