2015? We're going to call it the Year of Anthony Zinno, even if we're only halfway through it.

The reigning WPT Player of the Year, who won back-to-back WPT titles earlier in the year, rolled to his first career WSOP bracelet in the $25k Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller last night for a $1.1m payday.

Coming into the final table as the chip leader Zinno put on a dominant performance against an elite field to claim the gold at his fifth final table of the summer.

How does it compare to his epic run on the WPT?

"I've been coming to the WSOP for eight years," Zinno said after his win, "so this is something I really wanted longer

A lot of cash hugging in 2015.

“This is certainly my best day as a poker pro, and it was made even better by winning it in a game I love which is PLO and also against a very skilled final table, which is something where I can take extra pride in that.”

With the win Zinno also jumped into second in the 2015 WS0P POY race, just 100 points behind current leader Mike Gorodinsky.

Momentum Continues

Given his momentum coming into the WSOP expectations were high and Zinno has more than delivered.

He's now cashed five times with all of them being final-table appearances.

They haven't been in "soft" events, either, as they've all been high buy-in, small-field, high-talent affairs. Zinno's 2015 WSOP resume:

Event 21, $10k Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship - 6th
Event 25, $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed - 7th
Event 50, $10k Limit Hold'em Championship - 5th
Event 58, $111,111 High Roller for One Drop - 7th
Event 60, $25k Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller - 1st

Zinno's won just under $2 million at the WSOP this year. Hisprevious best result at the WSOP? A 205th-place finish in the 2008 Main Event for $38,600.

The 33-year-old American impressed over the full three days of the PLO event, starting the final day with the chip lead and nearly running the final table over.

That final table included luminaries Shaun Deeb, Christian Harder and Alexander Kostritsyn along with Finn Juha Helppi and Norwegian Stian Usterud.
