In today’s WSOP 3-Bet we’ll take a look at new Presidential-hopeful Donald Trump’s poker past, Dan Smith getting a little too sauced and Hoyt Corkins proving that aggressive poker never goes out of style.
1) Poker Fan Donald Trump Running for President
Donald Trump is running for President of the United States of America.
The business magnate announced his bid earlier today from the Atrium of Trump in New York City.
Regardless of your feelings about that, Trump does have at least one presidential thing going for him: he’s a poker player.
Like Barack Obama and Richard Nixon, Trump enjoys the game, according to poker super agent Brian Balsbaugh who Tweeted that Trump loved to watch Phil Hellmuth play.
Balsbaugh also reminded us that the online poker site Trump Poker was very briefly a thing back in the mid-2000s.
With that in mind you’d have to think Trump would take a fairly pro-online poker stance if he was elected president. Is it worth it? You can be the judge of that.
2) Remember to Always Poker Responsibly
So Dan Smith played Day 2 of Event 32 $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Max and then this happened:
Accidentally got too drunk to drive my car back to 5k 6max . What's the best service that will drive me and my car? #dannydiscipline
— Dan Smith (@dansmithholla) June 16, 2015Sake really does sneak up on you.
Massive respect for Smith knowing his limits and asking for help. It is somewhat hilarious that he was in the midst of playing a $5,000 tournament while it happened but he’s the one with nearly $10 million in live tournament earnings.
@olivierbusquet if someone would xbook big enough i would play every tournament at .15 BAC #propositonalgambling
— Dan Smith (@dansmithholla) June 16, 2015Smith lived up to his claim and made it to Day 3 of the event with 47,000 chips and a legitimate shot at the money.
3) Hoyt Corkins Amasses a Monster Stack
Remember Hoyt Corkins?
The so-called “Alabama Cowboy” was famous for building a massive stack thanks to a surprisingly aggressive style that caught a lot of people off guard.
Corkins hasn’t gone anywhere, he’s continued playing the circuit over the years, but it’s been awhile since we’ve seen him with a massive amount of chips.
Until yesterday that is.
Corkins picked up 9.3-million chips in the Monster Stack, which very much seems like the perfect event for the Alabama Cowboy.
Here’s our favorite Corkins clip, where he makes arch-nemesis Phil Hellmuth blow up briefly:

I think I need to have a more sophisticated game plan than "I'm going to draw out on this guy!" #POKER @WSOP

Another NHL playoff in the books. If you followed my picks you went 8-7 and showed yet another profitable season. Congrats Hawks.
