In 2015 he just might be a lock.
Mercier claimed his third Spring Championship of Online Poker title in under a week earlier tonight winning SCOOP 20-H, $2,100 No-Limit Hold'em 4-Max.
His prize was his biggest so far - $178,457.73 - and his competition the toughest with Calvin "cal42688" Anderson and Ryan "HITTHEPANDA" Franklin in the final three with him.
Unfazed by the talent Mercier played some inspired poker to enter heads-up with a 1.2m-750k chip lead against Franklin. The two agreed to a deal quickly after and played it out for $8k and the title.
Franklin, for his part, took home $152,789.71 while Anderson collected $68,408.24 and narrowly missed his second SCOOP title this week as well.
Six Total COOP Titles
Getting re-acclimated to online poker hasn't seemed to be a struggle for Mercier who relocates to Toronto to play the major online series twice a year.
Despite the less-frequent opportunity to grind his game doesn't seem worse for wear as tonight's title was in yet another unique variant.
Mercier's previous titles this week were in Event 5, Badugi, and Event 8, NL Draw.
As a warm-up for the impending World Series of Poker, it might be a good sign.
The win also gives Mercier six total COOP titles which ties him with Dan "djk123" Kelly and George Danzer. He's one behind Shaun Deeb and Anderson for overall COOP dominance.
