The famed Norwegian poker player cruised to an enormous chip-lead of 2.2 million on Day 4 of the contest.
Lodden is one of the most successful poker players of all time but somehow a major title still eludes him.
He’s tantalizingly close to the EPT Grand Final crown with just two days left and a serious chip lead.
Lodden has always had great results in Monte Carlo with a 73rd place finish in this same event last year and a third-place finish in 2013 for $612,355.
Mateos, Schemion, Pastor Hold On for Day 5

Lodden isn’t the only well-known pro with a shot at the EPT Grand Final title.
2013 WSOPE Main Event winner Adrian Mateos is third in chips with 1.6 million. German all-star Ole Schemion seventh in chips with 1.1 million.
Argentina pro Juan Martin Pastor (450,000) and Tom Hall (249,00) are also still in the contest but they’ll be fighting from the short stack tomorrow.
Meanwhile big names Jason Mercier, Stephen Chidwick, Scott Clements and Connor Drinan all fell to the rail on Day 3.
Action will resume tomorrow at noon with the goal of making it to at least a final table of eight-players.
