But back-to-back WPT World Championships?

That's heady territory Keven Stammen is veering toward with Day 3 in the books at Borgata.

After an intense day of play last year's $1.3m winner is back in deep contention with 23 players left and a third-overall chip stack of 915,000.

Stammen trails just Asher Conniff (1,275,000) and Ray Qartomy (1,176,000) as they head to Day 4 tomorrow.

Lakhov, Parker, Mortensen Still Alive

Of the 68 players that started the day plenty were already WPT title holders. Stammen couldn't shake off all of them, though, as a few still remain in the final 23.

Alexander Lakhov sits right behind Stammen in the counts at 884,000. Carlos Mortensen (459,000) and Tony Dunst (257,000) also made it through the day.

Carlos Mortensen
Never doubt Carlos Mortensen.

Mortensen has a WPT World Championship under his belt from 2007.

Several other notables survived to see Day 4 including Brock Parker (865,000), Jake Schindler (792,000), Matt Berkey (489,000) and Zo Karim (386,000).

The top 10 and chip counts:

1.  Asher Conniff  -  1,275,000  (106 bb)
