€1/€2 cash games will be available on a trial basis on the Stockholm-Malta route with plans to expand to other routes should the experiment prove a success.
A minimum of 50 flights will offer Poker in the Air, which will be available starting June 12.
Nine-Handed Action at European Aviation Standard
To accommodate as much action as possible the first four rows of the plane will be replaced with two poker tables with nine seats each.
All 9 seats at each table will be installed according to European Aviation standards and players will sit at the table for takeoff and landing.
Booking for the special poker seats will be available on Ryanair.com and PokerListings.com. A dedicated Poker in The Air section will be online shortly.
“We foresee that in today’s EU gambling climate,” a Ryanair spokesperson said, “in the long run this will be more profitable than four rows of seats.
“We pride ourselves on our forward-thinking, innovative business model and being first to market with Poker in the Air fits that model perfectly.
“Demand for poker has never been higher in the EU and we look forward to teaming up with PokerListings to be the first airline to offer this unique service.”
