Coming into the WPT Fallsview Classic in Niagara Falls last month, Zinno was a one-time WPT champ with a nice win at Borgata in 2013 and $1.5m in career earnings.
After last night's win at the WPT LAPC, he's now tied for the most WPT titles ever (with Gus Hansen and Carlos Mortensen), just the 3rd player to win back-to-back WPT titles (after Marvin Rettenmaier and Darren Elias) and added $1.3m to his bankroll.
As an added bonus: he's also pretty much locked up the WPT Player of the Year award.
Amazing Comeback from Zinno; Leah Second
Coming into the final table last night Zinno was fifth in chips and relatively short with just over 1m in chips.
He also had pros Mike Leah and Chris Klodnicki to contend with, making his run to a third WPT title look even tougher.
By three-handed play it was in fact just those three left with Zinno in third. By heads-up play, though, Zinno had knocked out Klodnicki and had a commanding chip advantage on Leah.
He went on to finish Leah off in just over 10 hands, earning $1,015,860, a seat in the WPT World Championship, a pair of gold Monster 24K Headphones and a Hublot Oceanographic 4000 Watch.
He also now has his name inscribed on the WPT Champions Cup for a third time and a growing reputation as one of the game's best.
Leah, who's coming off a career year in 2014, continues his run of big results with $701,350 for second. The full final table results and payouts:
