Today in the 3-Bet we find two prominent names in poker hit by burglary in Las Vegas, a path to solving No-Limit Hold'em being forged and Daniel Negreanu shares his favorite word.
1) Katz, Eskandani Burgled
Just days after finding out Vegas High Roller Cary Katz will host a $500,000 buy-in tournament at Aria this summer he's in the news again thanks to an old burglary.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal Katz's was one of several homes hit by a now-apprehended burglar in 2013/2014.
Out of the burglar's $2m overall take Katz's hit was roughly $211k in "purses, jewelry, figurines and an iPad."
Also taking a hit was long-time poker player and TV producer of High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark, Mori Eskandani.
Eskandari reported losing $130,400 in "poker chips and jewelry."
It doesn't look like the poker players were specifically targetted as a doctor, an executive for the Las Vegas Convention Authority and the CFO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, John Mulkey, were also victimized.
2) At 2:14am ET, Skynet Becomes Self-Aware

Much ado was made recently about the "solving" of Heads-Up Limit Holdem by the Cepheus AI developed at the University of Alberta.
While plenty of mainstream media outlets picked up on the story, few made the important distinction that it was just HU LHE that was solved. A lot just said "poker."
As we all know No-Limit Hold'em is an entirely different animal to "solve" requiring a much more complex algorithm and way more computing power than currently available.
That isn't to say they aren't trying though. A group led by Tuomas Sandholm at Carnegie Mellon University is working on an AI that can handle "an abstract version of no-limit Texas Hold ’em six times as large as any previous abstraction of the poker game."
It's even likely the largest "imperfect-information game" ever attempted by a computer, says IEEE Spectrum.
They're still miles away from coming close - the difference in information sets in NL vs. Limit is 147 orders of magnitude, they say - but they are getting closer. Read the latest about it here.
