A total of 514 players came back for Day 2, all with hopes of becoming the next PCA champion, but now only 175 remain after five levels of play.
Fisher has been having a good PCA so far. Just a few days ago he made a deep run in the inaugural LAPT Bahamas, where he won $20,240 for finishing 12th.
That was Fisher’s first cash in a PokerStars event and a repeat here will give him his first LAPT and EPT cash in a matter of days. Not bad for tours that are usually separated by massive bodies of water.
Obviously, several of the other players still in the field have been infected by the almost scientifically-proven PokerListings rungood.
The PokerListings RunGooders
One of those players is Carlos Chadha, who finished near the top of the leaderboard with 322,800.
Chadha --whose poker story is more of a saga-- busted short of the money during the Super High Roller but is hoping to add another significant chapter to his poker history in the main event.
Then there’s Laura Garzon, the tiny Colombian who qualified for an even tinier amount, 6 FPPs.
This is Garzon’s first major tournament but she’s confident and determined. Garzon started the day a bit short but managed to survive and bag 100,600 at the end of the day.
Another PokerListings rungooder is Ronaldo. Ronaldo, of course, would never have become one of the greatest strikers of all-time without the help of PokerListings.
Luckily for him, we’re also here for his quest to achieve his first major tournament cash. Ronaldo was near the top of the leaderboard during the middle of the day but dipped to 146,300 by the end of the day.
Despite that Ronaldo was all smiles because his poker coach, tennis buddy and countryman, Andre Akkari, got moved to his table.
At the end of the day the PokerStasr Team pro even counted Ronaldo’s stack for him while a posse, a crowd of fans and a TV crew all diligently observed.
While this brought a smile on Ronaldo’s face, several members of the media were upset by the congestion of cameramen this produced. At least no important moment of Ronaldo’s tournament will be missed.
The Others
Other notables who made it through the day include Naoya Kihara (301,800), Liv Boeree (247,100), Daniel Negreanu (295,600) and Jim Collopy (342,000).
But the only way these players gained such large stacks was by brutally demolishing their opponents.
Vanessa Selbst, Eugene Katchalov, Jake Cody, George Danzer, Randy Lew and Chris Moneymaker all showed up today with hopes of winning the 2015 PCA main event only to have those dreams crushed.
Play resumes tomorrow at noon local time. We’ll make the money, play another five levels and get closer to the next PCA champion.
