Agarwal, Ichinose Named First PokerStars Team Pros from India, Japan

Agarwal, already an Indian poker icon under the nickname "Intervention" and a coach for several rising Indian stars, began playing online in 2004 when attending university in the States.

Since relocated back to Calcutta, Agarwal has had an impressive career online with over $4m in earnings. He also has live scores dating back to 2006 and worth about $400k.

Agarwal will known be seen playing online at PokerStars under the nickname "Adi Agarwal."

Ichinose, menawhile, becomes Japan's first-ever full fledged PokerStars Team Pro, following in the footsteps of Team Online's groundbreaking Naoya Kihara.

Kosei began playing poker in 2006 while studying in Canada and has since gone on to become Japan's first player to reach Supernova Elite status.

He also has live scores dating back to 2006 and is 10th on Japan's all-time live money eanrers list.

Previously known as 'shinbunshi,' Ichinose will now play on PokerStars under the username ‘Kosei Ichinose’.

“The signing of these Team Pros from India and Japan," said Kirsty Thompson, PokerStars’ Head of Pro & Celebrity Management, "is an important step in helping promote the game in countries where poker is only just coming to the fore.

"Both players are highly respected within the poker sphere, and their success and passion for the game will no doubt spread throughout their local and national communities.”

Both players will make their live debuts as Team PokerStars members at the Aussie Millions in Melbourne later this month.
