The latest World Poker Tour event has been playing out over the last three days at the Casino Di Venezia and now just nine players remain in the hunt for the €302,065 first-place prize.

27 players returned for Day 3 this afternoon, including a number of familiar faces we would have liked to see at the final table.

As it is Jason Wheeler is headlining the final nine as the most recognizable name. He’s sitting in fourth place heading into the home stretch.

The final table is scheduled to start tomorrow at 13:00 CET but in the meantime continue reading for full final table counts and highlights from Day 3.

1. Simon Ravnsbaek – 795,000 2. Alessandro Longobardi – 783,000 3. Andrea Dato – 726,000 4. Jason Wheeler – 699,000 5. Gianluca Trebbi – 474,000 6. Andrea Carini – 430,000 7. Jeremie Sochet – 402,000 8. Rinat Bogdanov – 201,000 9. Massimo Mosele – 163,000

Ravnsbaek Bites Off Lead in Venice

Denmark’s Simon Ravnsbaek is in the number one spot heading into tomorrow’s final table, albeit by the smallest of margins.

The Dane narrowly edged out Italy’s Alessandro Longobardi and Andrea Dato, who both managed to break the 700k mark by day’s end.

Ravnsbaek has over $528,000 in live tournament earnings since his start in 2006. His biggest result to date is a third-place finish at WPT Vienna last year, good for $241,263.

James Akenhead
James Akenhead narrowly missed making another final table.

He’ll have to win this event to outdo that personal record.

Longobardi, who’s going into the finale just 12k behind our leader, also has a long list of ITM finishes, the biggest of which being a $109,680 win in a €2,800 event in Venice back in 2008.

In third is Italian Andrea Dato. He’s already earned over $340,000 playing live tournaments and he made the final table of the last WPT event in Venice, finishing fourth for $57k and change.

Dato’s biggest score was a third-place finish in a $1,500 WSOP event last year, which earned him $138,044.

American pro Jason Wheeler rounds out the top four, and is likely the most recognizable face at the table. He’s got a long list of deep runs, highlighted by a runner-up finish in a $1,500 WSOP donkament in 2009 for $418,122.

Bjerkmann, Akenhead, Scott Fall Short of Final

Marcel Bjerkmann put on quite a show in Venice, dominating every table at which he found himself, but that show was cancelled earlier today.

Bjerkmann started the day as chip leader but went out in 12th place for $12,294.

The first one out today was Kara Scott, who lost two consecutive preflop races to go out within sight of the money.

Joining them on the rail was former November Niner James Akenhead. He made it to 14th before exiting.

The final table will play out tomorrow in Venice. Keep an eye on our Poker News Section for more updates.
