Charania, a former EPT Grand Final champion, came back from a 9-1 chip deficit heads-up against Garrett Greer to win the 2014 WPT Five Diamond title and $1,477,890.

It's Charania's 2nd career WPT title, adding to his bwin WPT Grand Prix de Paris title last year.

Lichtenberger, meanwhile, held off an elite final eight and Tom Marchese heads-up to secure the WPT Alpha8 Bellagio title and $2.1 million.

Epic Comeback for Charania; Rast Falls in Third

Mohsin Charania
Another huge win for Charania.

Coming into heads-up down 14m to 3m in chips it looked like Charania would fall fairly quickly to Greer, one of the WPT's Ones to Watch for this season.

Five double-ups however reversed their fortunes entirely, however, and gave Charania the commanding lead.

One double-up for Greer was all he could muster in return before Charania's 96 ran out to a straight to beat his 22.

The chip leader coming into the final table, two-time WSOP bracelet winner Brett Shaffer, busted in third.

The final six and payouts:

1st: Mohsin Charania - $1,477,890 2nd: Garrett Greer - $869,683 3rd: Brett Shaffer - $562,736 4th: Ryan Julius - $383,684 5th: Ryan Fee - $272,842 6th: Tobias Reinkemeier - $218,842

Over in the $100k Alpha8 the final eight took their seats knowing two of them would go home without anything to show for it.

Just six place were paid with Phil Laak and Brandon Steven the two to miss out. Beginning of the day chip leader Brian Rast lost his chip lead early on, grabbed it back but eventually doubled up Tom Marchese three-handed and busted in third.

Tom Marchese
Seven figures for Marchese eases the pain.

Marchese and Lichtenberger played a well-paced heads-up battle with plenty of action before Lichtenberger ran out a flush to top Marchese's eights.
