According to Metroxpress the player is a well known member of the Danish high-stakes community over the past decade who has defrauded multiple players for multiple millions of dollars.
He was notified of the investigation into his activity back in October although no charges have been laid.
“I can confirm that we have received a review of that person and that it is tens of millions," Copenhagen Police commissioner Torben Koldborg Frederiksen told Metro.
The player under investigation is reportedly a former EPT champion and has been named in several public forums. The Danish police have currently enacted a ban on publishing his name until charges are filed.
The newspaper says a reporter has talked to several high-stakes Danish players who claim to have been cheated of amounts from between $100,000 to several million. According to sources the fraudulent activity has been ongoing for up to nine years with the method being planting Trojans via access to their computers.
Present at EPT Berlin, Barcelona
The player accused of cheating has not been very active on the live tournament scene over the last few years but was present at both EPT Berlin in 2012 and EPT Barcelona in 2013 where similar hacking attempts were reported.
In Barcelona last year Finnish high roller Jens Kyllönen discovered his laptop had been stolen only to come back and find his computer returned to his room.
He then found a Trojan horse had been installed on his computer. Fellow high roller Ignat '0human' Liviu also had his computer tampered with.
US poker pro Scott Seiver experienced the same thing with his laptop at EPT Berlin in 2012.
A third story about a Trojan installed on a player's computer was reported by pro Jason Koon at EPT Deauville last year, but on that occasion the Danish player appears to have not attended.
