PokerListings' Most Inspiring Player for 2014, Shannon Shorr, has also tweeted his intentions to play and ESPN’s WSOP Main Event host Kara Scott will make her way up from Vegas.
PokerStars pro Jason Mercier will be there, high roller Jason Koon is in and newly crowned WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobson - another WPT Montreal regular - told Aftonbladet after his huge win that he's considering an appearance.
Jacobson's inclination might be swayed by the fact he has such a positive history in Montreal.
He finished second in the $10k High Roller for $119,625 at the Playground Poker Fall Classic last year and cashed in the main event back in 2012.
Local pros Jonathan Duhamel, Jonathan Roy, Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Marc-Etienne McLaughlin, Pascal LeFrancois can also be expected.
Montreal, South Africa, UK Make Big Month
It’s been a busy month for Party Poker and the World Poker Tour.
PartyPoker’s two-week WPT Montreal festival follows directly on the heels of one of the WPT’s most far-flung stops at the Emperor Casino in Johannesburg, South Africa.
A total of 166 players bought into that main event with WPT regular Dylan Wilkerson coming out on top for $147,509.
Toronto local Xuan Liu was one of the pros in attendance and is another likely visitor to WPT Montreal.
Underway in the UK right now is the WPT UK National event at the Dawn to Dusk Poker Club in Nottingham.
Several big-name pros are at the tables there including Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Sam Trickett, Marvin Rettenmaier and Steve Watts.
