Negreanu is a first-ballot inductee after celebrating his 40th birthday this summer.

The Canadian is arguably the most recognizable player in the history of the game and has championed poker around the globe.

Negreanu is also the biggest winner with nearly $30 million in lifetime tournament earnings including six WSOP bracelets and two WPT titles.

One of the most outspoken players in poker, Negreanu is known for his massive TV presence, frequently-updated blog and various social media accounts.

"It's an honor to be inducted alongside so many great players that have come before me,” said Negreanu.

“An even bigger honor to be recognized at age 40, the same age as the legend Chip Reese. Thank you to the living members of the Poker Hall of Fame and those on the Blue Ribbon Media Panel that voted for me."

McClelland Worked for 40 Years in Poker Industry

Meanwhile the 63-year-old McClelland has 40 years of experience in the poker industry alone.

McClelland was the tournament director for the WSOP in the ‘80s but is perhaps most well-known for managing the poker room at Bellagio including working as the TD for the WPT events held on the property.

“Being inducted into the Class of 2014 Poker Hall of Fame is a very exciting prospect and I am sure it will be a very humbling experience,” said McClelland.

“I thank everyone involved in this process and to the WSOP, WPT and all of the great people I have met and the wonderful people I have worked with throughout the years. Thank you for bestowing this honor upon me. I am very grateful.”

McClelland worked tournaments stops around the globe including Aruba, Cyprus, London, Vienna, Russia and more. Even more impressive is the fact he started as a dealer and worked his way all the way to the top.

In many ways Negreanu and McClelland represent two sides to the same coin. Negreanu has had success in nearly every form of poker while McClelland has held almost every position in a poker room.

McClelland and Negreanu will be officially inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame on Nov. 9 at Binion’s Gambling Hall.
