Even though he showed up briefly last week for the EPT London main event (where he lives) he wasted no time after he busted getting back home and going online.
He still didn't put much of a profit together for the week, though, leaving the biggest winner as FL08 expert Kyle Ray.
German player SanIker had another really bad week and the best player of the year is still Alexander Kostritsyn.
Week of Duels
Last week was a week of heads-up duels. And every time there was proper action, Blom or SanIker were involved.
On Monday it looked like Blom could finally get his money back for good. After two hours he was $300k ahead and it looked like he was going to take it even further.
As it turned out, though, what goes up must come down and Blom was left with $130k at the end of the session.
One day later, he won another $100k against French player Alexandre Luneau at $2k/$4k 2-7 Triple Draw. But Blom wouldn’t be Blom if he didn’t fill the pockets of other high-stakes regulars with his winnings.
This time the player who brought Blom back to Earth was Carlooo13, whose identity is still unknown. They were playing Fixed-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo, which Blom has also been practicing, but Carlooo13 still took $350k from him.
KPR16 Big Winner
FL08 is also the favorite game of Kyle KPR16 Ray, who is reportedly best friends with Kyle cottonseed1 Henderson and SallyWoo. Word is they share a house in Mexico.
All three players were very active in 2013 but have vanished almost completely in 2014. With the FL08 tables suddenly getting more active, though, at least Ray showed up again.
And he did so with amazing success. KPR16 might have profited a little from the fact that Viktor Blom had a fantastic session the day before. Blom won over $300k and might have felt a little light-hearted so he decided to play the game Ray specializes in.
So, KPR16 met a very generous Blom -- so generous in fact that Ray made it to the top of the weekly leaderboard.
Biggest Pot of the Week
Last week the largest hand played out on one of the mixed-game tables. The relentless Blom met with the current "best player" of the year Alexander Kostritsyn.
The game was PLO and the limits were $300/$600. Both players were in a raising mood so the pot was already $32k when the flop came down:

made both players push all-in. Kostritsyn checked but called when Blom bet his last $80k. The pot had now been built up to $261k. Blom showed

Even though Blom won a quarter of a million dollars in this hand it wasn’t enough to make him a big winner for the week.
