In the works for quite a long time, PKR players received a message last night to update their client to version 3.0 with the promise of quicker play, a simpler interface and even better looking graphics.
"There were two guiding principles in the making of 3.0," PKR says in a relase posted on its community forums, "simplicity of use and improved game flow.
"At the table, we've eliminated a number of pauses between animations, stripped down certain sequences and optimised the logic behind others to ensure a smoother, uninterrupted game flow.
"Although the effect on hands per hour differs widely due to the many factors affecting each type of game, table and player, the constituent parts of each hand you play should feel quicker, and slicker."
Faster Play, Redesigned Lobby, New Filters
Always one of the most imaginative poker softwares out there with its personalized 3D avatars the PKR 3.0 update brings the client several new features with the functionality of more standard poker clients.
The way hole cards are displayed, the way the flop is displayed and the ability to pick 2D or 3D avatars for multi-tabling are just a few of them.
A redesigned poker lobby with new filters and a new "My PKR" section are also key, enabling players to access account/bonus information, tournaments and the updated avatar shop all in one place.
On the fun side you'll find a new photobooth feature, new virtual drinks at the table and a 'look at cards' emote. Avatar body and hair design has also been tweaked.
"Our aim with PKR 3.0 was to make this quite complicated piece of poker software easier to use," PKR says, "though we couldn't help but add a few design features to keep our visual cutting edge!"
