In today’s WSOP APAC 3-Bet we’ll take a look at cashing master Ismael Bojang, one of the best beards in poker and Brandon Shack-Harris looking for a little Dan Colman run-good.
1) Ismael Bojang = Cashing Machine
One thing that may have been missed at the final table where George Danzer won his third WSOP bracelet this year is that fellow German Ismael Bojang recorded his 13th(!) WSOP cash this year.
Bojang finished fourth in Event 8 $5,000 8-Game for a A$23,688 score.
That puts Bojang ahead of former record holder Konstantin Puchkov who recorded 12 WSOP cashes in 2012.
The 13 cashes this year includes five final tables and just under $300k in winnings. Bojang is particularly good at mix games so some of his final tables have been on the small side, at least as far as payouts were considered.
It’s a staggering number of cashes but Bojang would probably trade at least a few of those cashes for a straight-up bracelet win at this point.
In any other year Bojang’s record might make a strong case for POY but Danzer and Brandon Shack-Harris have pretty much quashed any chance of that.
2) Quoss-ly Down Under
Move aside Dan Bilzerian, there’s a new beard in poker town.
German high roller Fabian Quoss showed up for Day 1a of the WSOP APAC Main Event today sporting one heck of a beard.
We can only assume Quoss has been living in the mountains perfecting his poker game since playing the WSOP in Las Vegas this summer.
Quoss got off to one heck of a hot start in 2014 with a win in the $100k PCA Super High Roller for $1.6 million and then a fifth place finish in the Aussie Millions $250,000 Challenge for $716,611.
He’s actually gone over six months since making a high-roller score, however, so perhaps he’s ready for a big showing in the $25,000 WSOP APAC High Roller.
He’s always performed well in Melbourne and just based on that beard we’re not going to bet against him.
3) Shack-Harris: “Can I Get a Sub, Coach?”
While George Danzer’s victory in the $5k 8-Game Mix was a spectacular moment in poker history it was a nightmare for Brandon Shack-Harris in regards to his WSOP POY Chances.
Shack-Harris will likely need at least a final table or a win in either Main Event or the $25k High Roller if he wants to steal the lead back from Danzer.
Of course there is one player hotter than even Danzer in poker at the moment and Shack-Harris asked on Twitter if he would be allowed to substitute him in:
