Hellmuth was gunning for his record 14th bracelet in the tournament but faltered early and ended up finishing in fourth place for A$38,909.
It was the Hellmuth’s eighth cash at the WSOP this year and his third final table.
Meanwhile Antonios didn’t pull any punches in the winner’s interview when talking about Hellmuth.
“Hellmuth is an interesting character,” he said.
“He has a certain style and he’s got to where he is because of that style and he really hangs in there. He’s also really good against fish. Put him in a field with nine good players, though, and he would get pretty crushed.”

Antonios and Hellmuth got into a minor verbal war in the early stages of the final table.
“I’ve been thinking about you all night!” glowered Hellmuth at one point. “People will think I’m blowing up but you’ve been doing this all tournament.”
Hellmuth went on to say he’d been studying Antonios’ game and he was going to catch him in a bluff eventually.
It didn’t end up happening.
After a massive fold that cost him most of his stack, The Poker Brat’s luck ran out against Michael Tran when he shoved with A-7 and Tran called him with pocket fours.
The board ran out dry and Hellmuth’s hopes of winning a 14th bracelet in the tournament were dashed.
The Poker Brat was actually gracious in defeat and shook each player’s hand before heading for the exit.
“I was getting it in good all day,” he said to no one in particular as he left the room.
Tran went on to face Antonios heads-up but couldn’t get past the cash game pro.
It was the sixth bracelet for an Australian player at the 2014 WSOP APAC out of the seven events that have been played.
