Lettau entered the final table of EPT100 as one of the middle stacks but deftly dodged a surging Samuel Phillips while building a considerable stack of his own.
Noted Italian pro Andrea Dato was eliminated in fourth place when he three-bet shoved with A-2 only to get called by former chip leader Hossein Ensan’s A-7.
Considering EPT100 set attendance records with its field of €1,496 players it wasn’t a complete surprise the last three players opted to do a massive chop that saw Phillips take the majority with €1,021,275 while Ensan earned €652,667.
This paved the way for an epic six-hour heads-up match between Lettau and Phillips that didn’t end until the wee hours of the morning in Barcelona.
Finally Phillips made an ill-timed shove with 8♦ 7♦ and Lettau snapped him off with K♣ T♠. Lettau’s hand held and he was suddenly €794,058 richer. It's one of the rare EPT events where second paid more than first.

Jason Mercier Takes €473,500 in High Roller
Meanwhile the record-setting €10,300 buy-in high-roller event in Barcelona that drew 393 players came to a close with Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier taking a huge chunk of the prizepool by finishing second.
Belarusian Ihar Soika took first place for €747,200 while Mercier settled for €473,500 after a short heads-up battle where Mercier was at a 2-1 chip deficit.
Soika essentially went wire-to-wire at the final table as he maintained the chip lead from eight-handed play onwards.
It was a compelling final table with noted pros Ami Barer, Marc-Andre Ladouceur and Stephen Chidwick all looking to add another title to their results.
Ladouceur and Chidwick were eliminated relatively early while Barer made it to fourth place before finally being eliminated.
