Day 4 of the gargantuan EPT Barcelona began with 102 players (of the original 1,496!) returning to battle it out for a spot in the penultimate day of action in Spain.
Haenraets was a force to be reckoned with on Day 4 and built a stack of 4.3 million chips. Incredibly Haenraets won his way into EPT Barcelona through an €82 satellite on PokerStars.
Italian pro Andrea Dato is in the top 10 with 2.2 million while Polish PokerStars Pro Dominik Panka finds himself in 12th place with 1.7 million.
McDonald, Kitai, Heitmann Snapped on Day 4
Mike McDonald, Davidi Kitai and Martin Finger were just a few of the established pros who hit the rail on Day 4.
Jan Heitmann, the last of the Team PokerStars Pros, was crippled when he got his pocket aces cracked by queens and found himself on the rail shortly after the dinner break.
Fortunately everyone was in the money today with the top 239 spots getting paid. The serious money is yet to come, however.
The overall prize pool is an astounding €7,255,600 with €1.26 million set aside for the eventual winner. The 1,010 entries on Day 1b made it the busiest day in EPT history.
In total a collection of 1,496 players from 71 countries played in the 100th stop on the EPT.
Now only 25 remain with that €1.2 million first-place prize looming. Tomorrow the field will be reduced from 25 to a final table of eight. Action resumes at 12 p.m. local time in Barcelona.
