Mark Newhouse: 2014 WSOP Main Event November Nine Bio

Well, that’s because we did.

Newhouse has become the first player to ever make two November Nines, and he did it in consecutive years.

Newhouse is hoping to improve on his previous November Nine finish though. Last year, Newhouse started the final table 8th in chips but was the first one out.

“I absolutely refuse to finish 9th this year,” Newhouse said in a video interview with PokerListings. “That was very devastating, even though I didn’t think it would be, going in, it ended up being.

“[I] Didn’t prepare myself for it, so maybe try to prepare myself better.”

Newhouse said he feels more relaxed this year, an important mindset for someone who says he’s hit rock bottom with bad money management decisions in the past.

One of those lows came after his biggest win. Newhouse started to play poker online and then became a household name when he won the 2006 WPT Borgata Poker Open for $1.5 million.

Then came the downswing.

Now Newhouse is poised to get back on top with back-to-back November Nine finishes and a shot at $10 million and the title of world champion.

Newhouse will enter the final table 3rd in chips with 26,000,000.
