In today’s WSOP 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Jason Mercier cruising in the $50k PPC, Daniel Negreanu’s biggest fan and one of Jean-Robert Bellande’s worst bad beats.
1) Mercier Dominating $50k Player’s Championship
The $50,000 Poker Player’s Championship is always one of the most intriguing tournaments of the entire summer and this year’s edition is no exception.
Jason Mercier has emerged as the early front-runner after Day 2 of the multi-game epic.
Mercier has amassed 802,600 in chips and leads the final 55 players with his eye firmly on the $1.5m first-place prize and another WSOP bracelet.
Close behind Mercier is 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel with 783,000 and fellow OFC degen Shaun Deeb who has 724,400.
It’s certainly a young top three but savvy vets Gary Benson, Matt Glantz, David Oppenheim and Eli Elezra round out the top 10.
Erick Lindgren, Gus Hansen, Scotty Nguyen and Michael Mizrachi were among the players eliminated on Day 2.
2) Daniel Negreanu’s #1 Fan Shows Up
And you thought you were a big Daniel Negreanu fan.
Negreanu tweeted this photo of a fan that got the following tattoo to express her commitment to Kid Poker.

That’s something. Not quite enough to make our 14 highly questionable poker-themed tattoos but still a solid entry.
3) Jean-Robert Bellande’s Summer Gets Worse
So Jean-Robert Bellande’s been having a rough summer apparently and he’s not getting help from the cards.
Bellande Tweeted this disastrous outcome from a cash game at Aria yesterday.
It appears JRB had a flush against a set of fives and they decided to run the river three times. Somehow Bellande managed to lose all three times.
Between this and getting made fun of by Dan Bilzerian for requesting a stake it’s just no fun being BrokeLivingJRB right now.
He can make it all up one fell swoop in the Big One for One Drop, though.
