Want the latest news and gossip emanating from the center of the poker universe in Las Vegas, Nevada? Here's where it's at.
Today in the 3-Bet we find German Dominik Nitsche eclipsing the WSOP record of no less than Phil Ivey, Doug Polk sheds his online moniker and is reborn a WSOP bracelet winner and Tripp Kirk gets wrinkly. Really, really wrinkly.
1) Dominik Nitsche Wins Third Bracelet, Eclipses Ivey
There are so many impressive things about Dominik Nitsche's win in Event #21, $1k No-Limit Hold'em, last night it's almost impossible to know where to start. A few of those impressive things:
This is Nitsche's 2nd WSOP $1k NLHE win and third in NLHE In his two WSOP $1k wins combined he's outlasted 6,661 players Nitsche just won the WSOP National Championship in May giving him two WSOP bracelets in 17 days His three WSOP wins have earned him around $1.35 million He also finished third in the WSOPE $10k Main Event last fall for $540k
For a guy who says he still "sucks at poker," those are all, uhh, fairly solid accomplishments. As if those weren't enough, Nitsche also smashed one more record with his win:
At just 23 he's now the youngest player ever to win three bracelets, supplanting Phil Ivey who only managed to do it at 26.
So yeah. Alex Phahurat probably says it best:
Congratz @DominikNitsche on his 3rd bracelet. Hope I'm born as a German in my next life
— Alex Phahurat (@LegitAP47) June 11, 20142) WCGRider? He Dead.

Guy on the left above? Doug "WCGRider" Polk, feared high-stakes heads-up specialist and newly crowned WSOP bracelet winner in Event #23, $1k Turbo No-Limit Hold'em.
Guy on the right, obv. Tom "durrrr" Dwan. What's the connection (beyond some semi-remarkable physical and verbal similarities)?
After winning his bracelet last night Polk declared "I'm tired of being WCGRider, I want to be Doug Polk. I want to get out there and I want to try and establish myself in poker.”
durrrr was also once more a screen name than an actual human being, throwing out online heads-up challenges, playing insane nosebleed sessions and gathering fan boys before he became "Tom Dwan" the poker personality.
Polk has some big shoes to fill, sure. But the parallels are there. Polk even has the prop bets with Ivey to show he's really in the game now.
A deep run and some ESPN screen time during the $1m Big One or the Main Event and we might witness the birth of durrrr 3.14, give or take a few decimal points. More on Polk's coming out party last night here.
3) Tripp Kirk Spends 12 Hours in a Pool for $6k
It wouldn't be the WSOP without something like this happening. Again. God bless poker players. Sort of.
I have an offer for $6k to spend the night in the pool (12 hours) Someone tell me whether its worth it
