Officially Nitsche earned $352,800 for the win although according to a tweet he sent out he actually chopped three-handed for an undetermined amount.
Nitsche split up the remaining prize pool with former bracelet winners Athanasios Polychronopoulos and Matt Ashton, with Nitsche eventually beating Polychronopoulos heads-up.
This bracelet is still decidely his own, though, and the first to be handed out at this year's WSOP. It's the 23-year-old German's second career WSOP gold bracelet.
Outdoor Final Table, Merson Finishes 15th
A total of 126 players officially entered the 2014 WSOP National Championship made up of the top WSOPC performers over the season plus freeroll qualifiers on WSOP.com.
The top 100 WSOP POY point leaders could also buy in for $10,000, which is how Nitsche gained his spot in the field. Nitsche, who recently told PokerListings he still "sucks" at poker, became the first $10k qualifier to win the event.
Former WSOP Main Event champs Ryan Riess and Greg Merson also used the $10k option. Merson finished 15th for $21,269 while Riess went home empty-handed.
The six-handed final table was played outdoors on Atlantic City’s Boardwalk and was filmed by ESPN to be aired later in the summer. For a ful rundown of the action, check WSOP.com. Final results and payouts:
