Stammen, an elite online pro with over $5.5m in online earnings, used his chip lead coming into the final table with authority to secure his first career WPT title to go along with a WSOP bracelet he earned in 2009.
Along with the $1.3m in prize money Stammen collected his very own WPT Champions Trophy, a pair of gold Monster 24K Headphones and a Hublot King Power Unico Watch.
He'll also have his name engraved on the WPT Champions Cup.
Kaverman, Dunst, D'Angelo Make Runs
Stammen, known as Stammdogg online, had to hold off one of the toughest final tables in WPT history to earn his title.
The runner-up was pro Byron Kaverman, also from Ohio, who grabbed his sixth cash on the WPT this season. Earning $727,660 for second place Kaverman pushed his career live earnings up over $2.6m.
Right behind Kaverman was the WPT's own Tony Dunst, who hosts the "Raw Deal" segment on the WPT TV broadcast. The poker critic proved he knows his stuff with an impressive showing at the final table, rising from fifth in the chip counts to start the day to finish third.
Dunst collected $452,729 for his efforts. Ryan "g0lfa" D'Angelo, a well known online pro who's also made a successful transition to the live game, jumped from last in the counts to finish fourth.
Poker vets Curt Kohlberg and Abe Korotki were the first two eliminated. The final six and payouts:
