The series, which is the WSOP’s only international event this year, will see a significant increase in size compared to the 2013 version.

“Bigger and better is the best way to describe the 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.

“New events at modest price points like the Dealers Choice and Terminator No-Limit Hold’em, plus an expansion of overall events and a move to springtime in Melbourne is designed to encourage the North American and European contingent to make this a can’t miss event.”

Terminator is essentially a bounty event while Dealers Choice lets players on the button pick from the 8-game rotation.

$25k High Roller Returns as Bracelet Event

Daniel Negreanu
Last year's APAC ME winner.

The series will also include a $25,000 High-Roller event, which Philipp Gruissem won last year. This year the High Roller will award a WSOP bracelet.

Of course the Main Event will return to run from Oct. 12-18 with Daniel Negreanu expected to defend his title.

The WSOP has secured comprehensive live television coverage in the US and Australia for both the Main Event and High Roller.

This year marks the first time a poker tournament will air on Australian TV on the same day that it occured.

"We are really excited that the WSOP Asia-Pacific is returning to Melbourne,” said Gus Seebeck, ESPN’s General Manager Australia/NZ. “It's a fantastic event and ESPN's expanded coverage will bring poker fans around the world even closer to the action."

WSOP APAC is the second major tournament series held at the Crown in Melbourne with the massive Aussie Millions already completed in early 2014.

“Crown Melbourne is excited to be hosting the WSOP Asia Pacific for a second time and we are truly honoured to have 10 WSOP bracelets on offer,” Crown Melbourne Director of Poker, Jim Preston said.

“We look forward to welcoming players from all over Australia, along with the rest of the world, as we continually work very tirelessly to exceed customers’ expectations.”
