Today in the 3-Bet we find the rebirth of Daniel Negreanu, David Bach gets cranky with television and Justin Timberlake bets his life on a gutshot.
1) Negreanu Back, Buoyed By Readers Choice Awards
There’s no one in poker that puts himself out there more than Daniel Negreanu, so it’s nice to see that effort rewarded by the fans.
Recently named Favorite Male Player and Best Poker Twitterer in the Bluff Readers Choice Awards, Negreanu wrote in his latest blog that the mental boost from the awards means a lot to him.
Saying he hasn’t really felt like himself for the last couple years, Negreanu expressed his heartfelt gratitude and said he’s turned an important corner heading into 2012:
"I haven't really felt like "myself" in the last couple years, and I'm not talking about my poker game, although confidence is a big part of playing well.
"My close friends noticed, and while I tried to hide it from the public I think some of you may have noticed as well. I think that's why the awards actually meant a lot to me. "I've really turned the corner the last few months and finally feel like I'm completely back to my old self again. Very happy in my own skin, extremely confident, and harboring far less anger than I once dealt with.
With another packed travel schedule for 2012 including the upcoming Aussie Millions in Melbourne, fans will get their fair share of the Daniel they love this year.
2) Bach in Blog
Kicking off 2012 with his much-talked about "Responsibility in Poker" blog, poker pro Matt Glantz has now taken it one step further and offered up his blog as an open forum for "valued members of the poker community" to air their grievances.
In his words, "So long as your writing is in good taste and serves a purpose to the community, I will gladly post it on my website."
First to take him up on his offer is David “Gunslinger” Bach, high-stakes cash game regular and $50k HORSE champ at the 2009 WSOP.
Bach’s big beef?
A number of situations where the “integrity of the tournament has been compromised by a conflict with the interests of television.”
His conclusion:
I have noticed a trend in the past 4-5 years where the game of poker itself is placed 2nd in priority behind TV production, and this is just plain wrong.

3) Justin Timberlake Gambles His Inheritance on Gutshot
We'll always love a good royal flush-over-straight flush-over-quads poker scene, but the new Justin Timberlake movie In Time has taken ludicrous poker hands in movies to the next level.
The premise of In Time? Time has become the ultimate currency.
Everybody stops aging at 25 is genetically-engineered to live only one more year unless he or she can buy more time.
The rich stay alive, naturally, while the poor scramble to get more time any way they can – including, it seems, high-stakes poker.
