Earlier this week the clients for both WSOP.com and 888poker added a Neteller option in the cashier tab.

Neteller’s biggest competitor Skrill is already live in NJ but players now have the option of choosing between the two payment-processing giants.

Neteller Carries Long History in Online Poker

Neteller has a long, storied history in poker. At one point it was responsible for processing 80% of the world’s gambling operators but it was hit hard when the Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act passed in the US in 2006. Neteller exited the US market and it’s profits plummeted.

American poker players also had their Neteller accounts frozen for nearly six months when the company exited US soil but were eventually paid back in full.

Poker pro Isaac Haxton had $800,000 stuck on Neteller in 2007 when he finished second at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. He was finally reimbursed that summer.

Because Neteller settled with the DOJ and willingly left the US market in 2007 it was able to obtain licenses to operate in NJ. It’s already preparing to enter a wider US market, which would likely include Nevada.
