With $8m guaranteed to celebrate the eighth year of PokerStars' flagship online tournament over 46,000 players came out to play, topping the guarantee and making for a $9m+ prize pool.
Just under 6,000 players got a slice of the cash with DrUPSWING, after a deal with hdjgkfkgsdl, securing $1,038,540.31 for the win.
hdjgkfkgsdl earned $877,090.19 for his runner-up finish, missing out on the extra $160k they left on the table after a deal.
DrUPSWING Wants Million, Gets It
Making it to heads-up play with a 392m-73m chip lead it looked like DrUPSWING would make quick work of his opponent and collect the $1.1m top prize.
In a nod to 2012 WCOOP Main Event champ Marat "maratik" Sharafutdinov, DrUPSWING shared his intention to do just so in the chat:
hdjgkfkgsdl: gl DrUPSWING: gratz DrUPSWING: gl DrUPSWING: i want millionTwo quick double ups by hdjgkfkgsdl changed his tune, however, and a deal was struck with the chip counts about even.
DrUPSWING still got his million though, powering back into the chip lead and finishing things off in about 15 minutes.
Given the massive prize pool the top six finishers all received more than the average weekly winner of the Sunday Million. The final nine players and payouts:
