According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Gov. Brian Sandoval of Nevada and Gov. Jack Markell of Delaware will meet in Wilmington today to officially sign the pact.
Details on how the arrangement will work, the Review-Journal said, will be proposed by licensed vendors in the two states and subject to approval by gaming regulators.
The historic agreement is the first in what is eventually expected to be several intrastate agreements in lieu of federal online poker legislation.
Player Pool Still Small But Expected to Grow
Of the three states with legal online poker Nevada and Delaware are the smallest, making the shared liquidity an important step in boosting new signups.
Revenue from online poker is still small in both states with Delaware reporting under $100k in online poker rake in January.
Nevada recently added a third active poker site - Real Gaming - to its original two sites in WSOP.com and Ultimate Poker but traffic overall is still fairly slow.
Cash-game averages at WSOP.com and Ultimate Poker in Nevada are still at 209 and 145 players per day, respectively, according to PokerScout.com.
More on the Nevada-Delaware agreement is expected to be released later today. The signing of the deal will take place at 11 a.m. in Wilmington with video coverage available at DelawareOnline.com.
