Instead Floridian James Calderaro, who’s been posting live tournament results since 2006, defeated Shorr heads-up to claim his first WPT title and $270,000 in cash.
Calderaro finished third in the 2010 WSOP $10k PLO and runner-up in WPT Jacksonville but somehow a major victory had eluded him until last night.
On the flipside Shannon Shorr, one of the top nine players of the decade according to the GPI, will have to wait another day to finally snag a major title. Shorr has won over $5.4 million in live poker but is still lacking a WPT, WSOP or EPT win.
Shorr picked up $170,000 for coming in second place.
