2) Nicolas Levi: The Future of Poker is Social
If you've followed international poker at all for the last, oh, 10 years or so, you'll be very familiar with the name Nicolas Levi.
The ever-present Winamax pro with the ever-present fedora has been a fixture on the tourney circuit - and at big-time final tables - for the better part of the past decade.
A true poker pioneer in France Levi is taking a step away from the game this year to spend more time with his family and to get an intriguing poker product - Ranking Hero - off the ground.
What exactly is Ranking Hero? Says Levi:
"Ranking Hero isn't just 'another social network,' it's at the very heart of the poker community and it allows you to manage all your social networks.
"The idea is to provide a 'home' to poker players. We've put a lot of thought in the design of the website but we still have a lot of work to do in the next year."

3) Merson Joins Esfandiari, Laak, Cates at Premier League
We've always had a soft spot for the Party Poker Premier League but, truth be told, weren't so keen on seeing some of the same faces battle it out again this time. I mean, you can only watch so much Scott Seiver amirite?
Part of our wish has come true for Premier League VII coming up Nov. 20-26 in Montreal, though, with some new blood taking part.
Along with holdovers Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Jonathan Duhamel, Dan "Jungleman12" Cates, defending champ Dan Shak, Sam Trickett and Tony G., this year's 125k buy-in event will feature Jeff Gross, Vanessa Selbst and 2012 WSOP champ Greg Merson.
Two players are also still to be named.
Gross we're a bit unsure about but as Esfandiari and Laak's BFF we can see an entertaining dynamic there. Selbst is also great to watch but there's something about Merson that puts it over the top for us.
Not a classic "personality" guy per se, we just love watching him play poker. Probably because he's just so f'ing good. And if you've never seen Jungleman play poker, you're in for a treat.
