In what's become almost a cliche Germans Phil Gruissem, Tobias Reinkemeier and Igor Kurganov ran roughshod over the field at the £100k WPT Alpha8 in London today to take 3 of the 4 cash spots.
Gruissem, winner of the WSOPE APAC High Roller in April and third-place finisher at the WSOPE High Roller last week, took down his second notable High Roller crown of the year and scored £862,400 in the process.
Renkemeier and Kurganov finished third and fourth, respectively. Collectively the trio took home well over $2m US. The only player to break up the German party was American Scott Seiver, who finished second to Gruissem for £509,600.
Germans on a Tear Through Tournament Poker
The amazing run from the three Germans comes on the heels of two more dominant performances at the beginning of the month.
Martin Finger, Reinkemeier and Christoph Vogelsong finished 1-2-3 at the £50k EPT London High Roller. The week before Germans finished 1-2-4 in the WCOOP Main Event and split over $4 million.
As expected in this one the field was packed with poker's elite. Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Max Altergott, Tony G. and Richard Yong also made the final TV table but fell short of the cash.
