Daily 3-Bet: Jeans Tweets, America Hustled, Third-Person Tell

Today in the 3-Bet we find Finnish high-stakes superstar Jens Kyllönen finally joining Twitter (unfortunately under less-than-ideal circumstances), TV conman Alexis Conran takes America for a ride and Zach Elwood tips us off to another good tell for weakness/vulnerability.

1) Jeans Joins Twitter to Ding Hotel Arts

As big fans of both his game and his personality we've long hoped Jens "Jeans89" Kyllönen would join Twitter. We've finally got our wish - we just wish it had come under better circumstances.

Tweeting for justice.

 

In case you missed the story last week Kyllönen, Ignat "0human0" Liviu and possibly more high-stakes poker pros were the target of a presumed hacking scheme at Hotel Arts in Barcelona last week. Read the full harrowing tale provided by Jeans himself right here.

In light of the unsatisfactory response from Hotel Arts (and to a lesser extent PokerStars), Kyllönen took to Twitter to push the hotel to more accountability. Said Jeans:

"Someone suggested tweeting this incident to get it more attention and force the hotel to be more cooperative with the police. I just created a twitter account @RealJeans89 and made this tweet:

@HotelArtsBcn@RitzCarlton My hotel room got broken into multiple times, read the absurd story with over 200k views: http://t.co/ZMPiaf9ODF

"Share it as much as possible and feel free to start following me, I've been thinking about starting to tweet for a while now anyway."

With 226 retweets so far it seems to have had an impact, as have a few unflattering Hotel Arts reviews published on TripAdvisor. Follow the full saga here.

2) Alexis Conran Starts Hustling America

We haven't seen a minute of the first episode nor do we have much idea who Alexis Conran is (a magician/conman apparently), but we think we might have found our new favorite show on television.

Debuting last night on Channel 5 in the UK Conran's show is called Hustling America. In it he travels across America in "the footsteps of history’s greatest hustlers."

Easy tip-off to the hustler: Suspenders, cash throwing.

 

Conran uses his "skills in deception and magic" to try and duplicate some of the most impossible prop bets ever, done by some of America's greatest hustlers.

Yes, please. In Episode One Conran goes to Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas and walks in the footsteps of legendary road gambler Titanic Thompson.

Episodes 2 and 3 take place in Las Vegas and New York, respectively.

3) Zach Elwood: Referring to Opponent in Third Person = Weakness

Have you read Zach Elwood's great book Reading Poker Tells yet?

If you haven't, and you play any form of live poker, you're likely missing a million simple information cues at the table and punting away stack after stack out of your own ignorance.

OK, that's an exaggeration. But if you're still going by that old psych mumbo jumbo you've seen on ESPN, we suggest you get a copy.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Elwood's always going over hands/tape and coming up with intriguing thoughts on tells at the poker table - much like this one today via his Twitter account @apokerplayer:

Think I've found a pretty good correlation for referring to your opponent in the 3rd person meaning weakness/vulnerability.

Might have something to do with emotionally distancing yourself from the hand. Sarcastic comments like "Sammy's always got a hand."
