Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu ascended to top spot this weekend after taking second place in the EPT €10k High Roller.

Negreanu finished runner-up to Thomas Muhlocker but still picked up €263,800 and the necessary points to take charge of the GPI’s number one spot.

The official rankings will be released on the GPI’s website later this week.

The Canadian deposed Paul Volpe, who made back-to-back WPT final tables earlier this year.

Negreanu is on a serious heater of his own this year with three WSOP final tables, one bracelet victory, fourth in the EPT Grand Final and seventh in the WPT World Championship.

In 2013 Negreanu has already cashed 12 times for a total profit of $2.1 million.

GPI has some serious momentum at the moment as the ranking system was recently picked to handle the European Poker Tour’s POY.
