Any tips for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.
Today in the 3-Bet we find Scotsman David Vamplew quietly bringing $750k home with him from the 2013 World Series of Poker, 2004 WSOP Main Event David Williams tying the knot in Hawaii and Wimbledon champ Andy Murray scoring a special, poker-inspired gift.
1) Who Knew David Vamplew Won $750k at 2013 WSOP?
We were there for all of the 2013 WSOP and even we were surprised to read David Vamplew packed $750k back to the UK this summer.
We remember his second-place finishes well enough - an early runner-up to Trevor Pope in the 8-Max and a later runner-up to Brett Shaffer in a $1,500 - but without a bracelet his wasn't one of the names that particularly stood out.
At the end of the day, though, his combined take of $763,304 (incuding another small cash) is, well, sick. He's pretty chuffed with it, naturally, as he told the UK's Daily Record:
“I am delighted with the result. The fact that I was second twice in Las Vegas was slightly disappointing because you are aiming to win, but I am very happy."
Being a poker high roller hasn't made him famous in his home country, he says, but that's something he's just fine with:
“In terms of public recognition and girlfriends, being a professional poker player is not quite like being a footballer. Poker as a game is much more popular with blokes so at this point I can still walk down the street without being mobbed. I’m not sure that the attention that comes with being a professional footballer might be something I would even want.”
2) David Williams Gets Married, JRB Invited
There aren't many ways you can console yourself as a poker player after busting out of the WSOP Main Event.
2004 WSOP Main Event runner-up David Williams - and resurgent Magic: The Gathering champ - certainly found one this year though - getting married to his longtime girlfriend in Hawaii.
Today was the 2nd best day of my life (to the birth of my daughter). I married my best friend @YvetteD85. Thank you to all my guests!

— Jean-Robert Bellande (@BrokeLivingJRB) July 24, 20133) Wimbledon Champ Murray Gets Bespoke Poker Table
What do you get the incredibly successful tennis pro who just became the first UK champion at Wimbledon in 77 years and likely already owns everything he could possibly want?
A bespoke poker table, apparently, according to The Edinburgh News.
His uncle commissioned it from a local manufacturer, they say, who incorporated the pro's logo in to the middle of the table.
The seats were named for significant tennis locales in Murray's life including Dunblane, Wimbledon, Miami, Flushing Meadows, Melbourne, Oxshott, Barcelona and Roland Garros.
Mbn, Murray. Mbn. We'll take Roland Garros, if you're inviting.
