The final tables of the $10,300 main event and the $25,500 High Roller will both get the almost-live broadcast treatment with Joe Stapleton, James Hartigan and Daniel Negreanu in the commentary booth.
Outside of the World Series of Poker, the PCA Main Event is the biggest live poker tournament in the world and drew over 1,500 entrants in both 2010 and 2011. Reigning champion Galen Hall, a 24-year-old student from California, won $2.3 million almost one year ago when he overcame a field of 1,560.
2012 will mark the first time the final table has been streamed live with hole cards and over 800 players are already registered to play.
The $25k High Roller event has also been producing record prize pools since its introduction in 2009. At the last PCA it had a $30k price tag and attracted 151 players. Canadian Will Molson came out on top and pocketed $1.07 million for the victory.
PokerStars is upping the ante even further in 2012 with a $100,000 Super High Roller event, the first of its kind at the PCA.
More than 20 players have already committed to playing including Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Bill Perkins, Brian Rast, Bryan Colin, Bryn Kenney, Dan Shak, Daniel Negreanu, David Sands, Galen Hall, Isaac Haxton, Jason Mercier, Jonathan Duhamel, Masa Kagawa, Matt Glantz, Mike McDonald, Sam Stein and Scott Seiver.
Also playing is 2011 PCA $25k High Roller champion Eugene Katchalov.
The 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will include 41 events and will play out at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas January 5-14.
