He’s looking to make a deeper run this year.
Gee had already made it past 6,252 players by the dinner break of Day 5 of the 2013 WSOP Main Event.
The 58-year-old Gee made it farther his fellow October Nine contestants from 2012. Defending World Champ Greg Merson was the closest, finishing 167th earlier today.
“I do take some pride in the fact I outlasted all of them,” he said. “I root for them, they’re all good friends, but because of how I went out last year I wanted to redeem myself.”

Gee played arguably the most famous hand of the 2012 Main Event final table when he made a massive bluff for his entire stack only to have Russell Thomas call and bust him in ninth.
“That’s something you never forget,” he said.
“I don’t see how any poker player could ever forget that. That’s something you’ll always think about, but the past is the past, there’s nothing I can do about it. All I can do is try and do something memorable so people remember that instead.”
Gee hasn't achieved much in poker since placing ninth in the 2012 Main Event and he’s hoping to change that this year.
“I had a pretty rough summer,” he said. “I played like 12 tournaments and only cashed once.”
That's changing quickly in the 2013 Main Event.
To put things in perspective Gee has already outlasted nearly 13,000 players in the last two Main Events and is still going strong.
“I think I have a legitimate chance,” he said.
“I really feel good right now. Maybe it’s destiny. I knew it was a long shot but when I sat down in this tournament I honestly thought I had a chance to go back to the final table.”
