Very few accomplish much of anything.
Last year actor Kevin Pollak bucked the trend and went on a deep run that finally ended in 154th place for a cash of $52,718.
This year he’s returned to the Main Event and looking to find some of the same magic that helped him outlast over 6,000 players in the world’s biggest tournament.
He’s modest about last year’s performance, to say the least.
“Yeah, last year was pretty fluky,” Pollak said. “I’m nowhere near the level of skill to do what I did last year to be honest.”
Despite downplaying his success last year, Pollak said he did learn from the experience.
“I think I’m better at playing tournaments having experienced last year,” he said. “Tournaments were not my strength. Now I have an understanding of how this big-league Main Event works.”
Pollak Playing Well to Start 2013 Main Event
Pollak, who tends to be very vocal at the table, was off to a fast start in the 2013 WSOP Main Event. He was up to nearly 50,000 chips after the first few levels of play.
The Usual Suspects actor hardly the only celebrity scheduled to play this year’s WSOP Main Event.
Actors Brad Garrett and Ray Romano are expected to play as well as sports stars Roberto Luongo and Georges “Rush” St-Pierre.
No matter what happens Pollak will always remember what he accomplished last year.
“It’s a great story and I’ve got that for life,” he said.
