Scott came onto the poker scene in 2006 as a host for several UK poker shows after a move from Canada. She fell in love with the game and soon moved from the sidelines to the tables.
Her best result to date was a runner-up finish in the 2009 Irish Poker Open Main Event. Now sponsored by Party Poker, Scott continues to play as many WSOP events as her schedule will allow.
When not at the table, Scott can also be seen as the sideline reporter for ESPN’s WSOP Main Event coverage. Or as the host for PokerListings’ very own Battle of Malta tournament.
She made some big changes in her life in the last year including a move to Italy, perfecting her poker game, and getting engaged to her friend/poker colleague Giovanni Rizzo.
You recently made a move from the States to Italy. What prompted the move and why Italy?
I’m part Italian, my mom is Italian, and I’ve always wanted to learn the language. I was moving back to Europe anyways because my time in the America was done.
So I was going to move back to England where I live for about 10 years because I love it and then I met this guy (my fiancé is Italian) so I moved to Italy with him.
Your fiancé is Italian and popped the question in Venice, was it the perfect proposal?
It was a ridiculously romantic proposal and very personal, it was very fitting because we’d been friends for a long time and worked together so the proposal was really perfect.
Very sweet and lovely and exactly how he is.
How has the move from the States to Europe changed your poker game?
Well now that I live back in Europe, I’ve only just received my residency by the way, that means I can play on the .IT sites. When I get back from the WSOP I need to sort that out.
So I will be playing more which will be very nice.
It has definitely changed my game a bit as I’ve gotten to know a lot of Italian poker players. They’re an awesome bunch of people, very supportive of each other, and hilarious.
They’ve help me up my game in aggression because they are really good at that.
Now that you live in Italy and are enjoying the happy life, has it changed your approach to the game?
Being happier always helps; when you’re happy with your life it helps you focus better. You’re sleeping better, eating better, you’ve got a nice stable life and it really does help I think.
And having someone who understands poker and supports me has to make me play better.
There are some many great things about Italy, what is your favorite?
Besides my fiancé it would be the food. I mean you’d have to be a complete idiot not to love Italian food.
And I’m sorry if you don’t love Italian food and I’m calling you an idiot, but I’m laying it out there right now.
