Sylvestre Strikes for Canada, Clements Climbs Millionaire Maker

Clements, who has two WSOP bracelets in Omaha, amassed 66,225 chips on Day 1b of the Millionaire Maker.

Brendon Rubie (42,900) and Shawn Buchanan (42,250) were also stars on Day 1b.

Thanks to a field that included 6,343 players the first starting day of the Millionaire Maker was actually split into Day 1a and Day 1b, despite both days technically taking place yesterday.

Day 1a started the day while Day 1b wrapped up late in the evening. Over in Day 1b poker pro Ryan Welch was one of the chip leaders with 68,450.

Sylvestre Takes Home Gold in Event 3 $1,500 Re-Entry

Charles Sylvestre beat Seth Berger heads-up to take down Event 3 $1,500 re-entry to earn $491,360 yesterday.

In total the French Canadian outlasted 3,164 players to win his first WSOP bracelet. Former WSOP champ Jonathan Duhamel was on hand to cheer his friend to victory.

Some of the notable players to cash in the tournament included Erick Lindgren, Jake Balsiger, Eric Baldwin, Scott Seiver and Nam Le.

Negreanu, Matusow Make Final 19 of $2,500 Stud/Omaha Hi-Lo

Famed poker pros Daniel Negreanu and Mike Matusow still have shot at a bracelet in the star-studded Event 5 $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low Eight or Better.

Mike Gorodinsky leads the final 19 players with 330,500 chips.

Negreanu will take 106,500 chips into battle today while Matusow will arrive with a scant 57,500.

The event drew a total of 374 players and first place pays out $216,958.

Some of the other notables still in the contest include COOP-master George Danzer, James Van Alstyne and Owais Ahmed.

Action resumes at 2 p.m. today.

Cada, Stammen Make $1,500 NLHE 6-Max Final Seven

Pros Joe Cada and Keven Stammen are within range of a bracelet in Event 4 $1,500 NLHE 6-Max.

Mike Mustafa is the overwhelming chip leader of the final seven players with 1.2 million chips but Cada will bring 671,000 and Stammen is at 201,000.

Cada, who won the 2009 WSOP Main Event, came close to winning a bracelet last year when he finished runner-up in another $1,500 NLHE event.

It’s been over a decade since a WSOP Main Event winner went on to win another bracelet at the WSOP.

Action picks up again at 3 p.m. PST to play down to a winner.
