Today in the 3-Bet we hit up some revealing details of Phil Ivey's divorce, a prop bet challenge between Danes Peter Eastgate and Peter Jepsen and poker's favorite astro-physics grad getting stumped on a UK quiz show.

1) Ivey Facing Financial Squeeze

Even the great Phil Ivey can’t fade the financial apocalypse of a divorce.

Ivey and his ex-wife Luciaetta finalized their divorce in December 2009 but Luciaetta filed a petition this past September to have the judge in their settlement disqualified because of a previous campaign donation from Phil.

It's not easy having green.

Details of their settlement were revealed in the petition and today the Las Vegas Review Journal published parts of Ivey’s response that show just how much he lost in the deal.

Saying Luciaetta ended up with “no debt" and "millions of dollars worth of property“ Ivey’s attorneys say she also received her car, her life insurance policy, 40 percent of a stock account, a down payment for a new residence, half of the proceeds from the sale of the couple's home and 40 percent of all business interests with the exception of Tiltware, LLC.

Ivey also took on $170,000 in credit card debt and $15.1 million "in gambling and other debt."

The one stop-gap for Phil? Strangely enough, Black Friday.

The divorce agreement included $180,000 a month in alimony from the money Ivey gets from Tiltware, but if Ivey stopped receiving funds the alimony stopped.

Luciaetta reported receiving payments from Jan. 2010-April 2011 before they stopped abruptly.

2) Peter Eastgate Jumps in Copenhagen Harbor and Runs Home for $6k

He's out of poker but 2008 WSOP Main Event champ Peter Eastgate still has some of the old gamble in him.

In Copenhagen for the Pokernyhederne.com Christmas party, Danish pros Peter Jepsen and Kasper Cordes bet him $5k and $1k respectively that he wouldn't jump in the Copenhagen harbor and run back to Cordes's home 4.2 km away.

He did.

Full winter jacket and all.

Eastgate told Pokernyhederne.com later that the run was only 20 minutes and the water wasn't very cold.

3) Boeree Stumped on University Challenge

Liv Boeree
Poker pressure no help for a quiz show.

Playing huge pots in $10k buy-in tournaments brings its own kind of pressure, but apparently it doesn't necessarily prepare you for the pressure of answering quiz questions under TV lights.

Poker’s favorite astro-physics grad Liv Boeree had the chance to appear on iconic UK quiz show University Challenge yesterday and, by her own account, fared less than optimally.

Among her tweets from yesterday encouraging her followers to watch the show:

"Watch me totally fluff a question that I 100% know the answer to... #crapunderpressure"

She did rebound to get 2 out of 3 astronomy questions right however.

University Challenge is one of the oldest game shows in the UK, originally airing from 1962-1987.

The BBC resurrected it in 1994 and has been airing it on BBC2.

Boeree represented the University of Manchester against the University of York.

The Christmas special episode aired today. If you missed it and live in the UK, you can watch it here.
