First-Eagle Wins Biggest PokerStars Sunday Million Ever
A staggering 62,116 players flocked to PokerStars’ 10th Anniversary Sunday Million yesterday, the biggest number that tournament has ever seen. After 15 hours of play Canadian Kyle "First-Eagle" Weir came out on top, pocketing $1,146,574 thanks to a six-way deal.
Weir, 24 years old, told PokerStars he'd be using the money to launch his poker career, pay off student debt and treat his parents to a vacation.
“The feeling is unbelievable," said Weir. "I still feel like I’m dreaming and can’t believe it’s happened. It’s an incredibly fortunate experience.”
Yesterday’s Sunday Million not only set a record for the biggest field in that event, it became the biggest tournament prize pool ever generated on PokerStars, offering $12,423,200 in prize money.
It beat out the previous record-holder, the 2010 WCOOP main event, by just over $200,000.

187 players coughed up the ten large to play in one of the internet’s highest buy-in events, and as expected the field was extremely tough.
After almost 14 hours Australia’s Joey “jcl87” Lawrence beat out his competition and earned $402,050.
Among those who helped build the $1.87 million prize pool were some of the biggest names in the game, many of whom fell far short of the money.
Bryn Kenney, Mike Watson, Sami Kelopuro, Sam Chartier and Daniel Negreanu all found themselves quickly eliminated, $10,000 poorer for their effort.
Making it into the 27 spots that got paid but falling short of the big money were Mike “Timex” McDonald (23rd), Joao “joaobarb” Barbosa (22nd) and Jon Duhamel (15th).
The final table was absolutely stacked with tough players like three-time WCOOP winner Dan “djk123” Kelly, 2011 WCOOP High Roller winner Ashley “DYBYDX” Mason and WSOP bracelet winner Keven “Stammdogg” Stammen all fighting for the top spot.
Despite some discussion, no deal was reached with the entire $402k first-place prize going to Joey Lawrence.

Yesterday’s big field numbers held true across the board on PokerStars with 4,937 players almost doubling the half-million Sunday Warm-Up guarantee.
In the end it was RenRad 01 who came out on top, a victory that was worth $154,461.
