Germany’s Robert Haigh is the chip leader with 5.4 million while countryman Daniel-Gai Pidun is a close second with 5.2 million.
The two high-profile players heading into the final 16 – Olivier Busquet and Cal Anderson – both fell short of the final table.
Busquet was one of the first players to bust as he dropped out in 15th while Anderson came painfully close to making the final table eventually finishing in 10th place.
Anderson had the misfortune of smashing pocket fives into Pascal Vos’ pocket queens in a massive pot that exceeded three million chips. There were no surprises on the board and Vos’ shipped the pot.
Despite bleeding some of his newfound chips, Vos secured a spot at the final table with 1.7 million chips.
