Nick Morales technically took the chip lead on WSOP APAC Event 1 Day 1c with 57,275 while numerous big name pros including Daniel Negreanu and Antonio Esfandiari were shut out completely.
Meanwhile Saout, who was the chip leader on Day 1b with 58,875, stole the show by adding another 45,500 on Day 1c to bring his overall stack up to 104,375.
As expected Day 1c of the $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em Accumulator proved to be the biggest with a total of 419 players taking part in the festivities.
Payouts were announced midway through the day with a total number of 1,085 entries. Of those entries about 580 were unique, meaning nearly 50% of the field fired more than one bullet.
The 1,085 entries created an overall prizepool of $1.08 million with $211k dedicated to first place. The top 90 players will get paid.
Celebrated online grinder Dan “djk123” Kelly, who crushed Day 1a with 66,250, added another 15,000 to his stack on Day 1c. He will take a total of 81,250 to Day 2.
James Obst, Sam Cohen, Eugene Katchalov and Melanie Weisner were among the 64 players who finished with chips on Day 1c along with 888poker pros Jesse Sylvia and Jake Balsiger.
Stay tuned for the combined top 10 chip leaders from all three starting flights.
Negreanu, Esfandiari Grospellier Whiff on WSOP Day 3
Negreanu and Esfandiari weren’t the only players to be shut out entirely as Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, JC Tran and Joe Cheong were among the players to fall, despite firing multiple bullets.
Phil Hellmuth fired three bullets in Event 1 but only bagged chips on Day 1a. He’ll return for Day 2 with 22,000 chips.
Andrew Hinrichsen, one of the few Australian WSOP bracelet winners, had a shot at being the only player to finish with chips on all three starting days but busted in the latter portion of Day 1c.
Despite his elimination, Hinrichsen will enter Day 2 with 30,150 chips thanks to his success on Day 1a and Day 1b.
Action in Event 1 resumes at 12 p.m. local time tomorrow with every remaining player meeting under the same roof. Tomorrow also marks the debut of the second WSOP APAC event ever – the $1,650 PLO tournament – which begins at 4 p.m.
