Negreanu issued the challenge in a YouTube video after Gus Hansen needled Kid Poker about a famous High Stakes Poker hand.
“I, Daniel Negreanu, challenge you, Gus Hansen and your two cronies Viktor Blom and Tom Dwan to a heads-up Battleship match at EPT London,” he said in the video.
The Canadian won’t be going in alone, however, as he’s going to handpick two members from Team PokerStars Pro as teammates.
Negreanu is letting fans help decide who his teammates will be in the challenge but he did mention Vanessa Selbst, Jason Mercier, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Eugene Katchalov and Isaac Haxton as potential picks.
As for format, Negreanu wants to play three freezeout tables at once, with the player who wins two out of the three tables taking the individual match. The winning team will be the one that wins two of the three games.
Stakes or games were not discussed. Hansen has yet to respond to Negreanu's challenge.
